How Etsy Shoppers Find Your Shop

You more than likely have seen some really bizarre keywords on your Google Analytics account. If you are wondering why, I have an article here: How to make your Etsy Google Friendly

Since our shops are under a main website (etsy.com), it is hard to figure out what keywords people used to find your specific shop on Etsy. The good news is that you can track how shoppers within Etsy find your shop using keywords.

To set this up, follow these steps (if the pictures are too small for you just click on them for bigger versions):
  1. Log-in to Google Analytics
  2. Click "edit" see the heart in the picture
  3. In the top right of the "Main Website Profile Information" box click "edit"
  4. Under "Site Search" change the settings to match the picture below
  5. Click "Save Changes"
This update will take at most 24 hours to start working. After you wait for it to update your settings you can come back and follow these instructions to see the results.
  1. Log in to Google Analytics
  2. Click "View report"
  3. Click "Content"
  4. Click "Site Search"

  3. Hi--found the link for this you posted on etsy forums. Thanks again! There's an option: yes/no an E-commerce site. I would guess yes (it's an etsy store) but maybe that term has a specific definition? Please advise--new to GA. Thanks!
Also, is it possible to track two etsy shops?
    Thanks!

  4. Hi Leila,

I have "no" checked because we cannot use the ecommerce aspect for google analytics. Eventually, etsy might change this so we can use it, but for not it does not really matter what you check.

Yes! You can add as many stores as you would like .. when you first log-in to Google Analytics click "Add new profile" its on the right. Then follow the steps the same way you did it for your first shop.

Let me know if you need any more help.

  10. Your directions were great, and the video was especially good because it explained the reason why we had to make these setting changes. Thanks!

  11. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I have a couple of Etsy stores listed, so I had to do some maneuvering to find the "Main Website Profile Information". Once I found it though, it was a piece of cake. Can't wait to see what comes of it. Meredith (A Vague reCollection and MomAndMisha)
